We are Laurie and Beth. Friends, neighbors, wives, mothers of boys and lovers of books. We share a dream of one day opening an independent bookshop in our city.
Lacking funds we settled for co-authoring a book review column in our city’s local newspaper.
Although quite rewarding this endeavor did not fulfill the desire we have to connect with other book lovers. To find out what you are reading. To discover those gems we may not have picked up without some encouragement.
So we decided to share our reviews with the world …. or at least those of you who find our site. Our hope is that you will add your own comments on the books we loved and suggest titles of books you think we may enjoy.
As moms it is hard to shake the “if you don’t have something nice to say then don’t say anything at all” mantra. In that spirit, we only share books we enjoyed. We fully understand all books do not appeal to all people.
Reading is fundamental for so many reasons. We gain knowledge, understanding, sympathy, empathy and the ability to connect with others. We are forced to think about people, situations, addictions, joys and sorrows in ways we might not have before. Adding “Don’t forget to read … ” at the end of our reviews sums us up in a nutshell.
